MP3 is the Most Efficient Way to Play Music

Published by Orlando Designer under Audio & Video

If you want the most portable and easy-to-use device to play music on, you will need an mp3 player and some music stored as mp3 music files. Not only is this the technology that will replace other music players soon, but it is the most advanced way to play music. It’s also so easy to download music from the Internet in mp3 format that you’ll never have to go to a record store again once you have an mp3 player.

MP3 technology is easy to use, but there are a few differences between this and other music technologies. An mp3 player is a digital audio player that organizes and stores mp3 music files, and of course plays them as well. An mp3 player is a more common name for a digital audio player. These players can play other types of files, which are often associated with a brand. Windows Media Audio, Advanced Audio Coding and mp3 music files can be played on these efficient audio players.

There are various other music download formats you may find other than mp3 music files, such as Janus and Fairplay, which are part of some subscription-based music download sites. There are other varieties of patent-free file formats, as well.

Three different types of mp3 players can be found on the market. Flash players are digital audio devices that hold mp3 music files and other file formats on internal or external media such as memory cards. These have storage capacity ranging from 128 megabytes to 8 gigabytes, which is smaller than some other mp3 players. The new iPod Nano would be included in this category, for example. Flash mp3 players can be updates with additional memory, though. These types of mp3 players can often be integrated into USB keydrives, and are very resilient players.

Hard drive mp3 players, or digital jukeboxes, are digital audio players that read mp3 music files from a hard drive. This type of mp3 player has a higher capacity than the flash player; generally from 1.5 gigabytes to 160 gigabytes. This allows people to transfer entire music collections they have on CD to mp3 music files and store them in one digital audio player. Consumers can add downloadable music from various commercial web sites and free music download services as well. There are also hard drive players for video and picture files. These can also be just as portable as the smaller flash players, just slightly bigger. Popular hard drive mp3 players include the Apple iPod, Creative Zen and Microsoft Zune are examples of popular digital jukeboxes.

The last type of mp3 player is the mp3 CD player. These play regular CDs you buy at the store as well as CDs with mp3 music files and other types of downloadable music files. It’s easy to transfer music downloads to CD format. It’s also easy to transfer your CDs into mp3 music files, so you don’t have to worry about your old music collections aver being outdated formats.

MP3 technology is the music format of today, and should remain the top audio technology for quite some time. New gadgets and improved quality should be the only changes to mp3 technology in the near future.

Audio Books – Why Recorded Books On Tape And MP3 Books Win Over Books On CD

Published by Orlando Designer under Audio & Video

Audio books come in many formats. Also called recorded books, they come on tapes, CD’s, and now, as MP3 books. Surprisingly, people prefer the old technology of recorded books on tape over books on CD. You may be somewhat amazed to learn why.

Although CDs are great, but when it comes to listening to recorded books, books on tape are the long-term consumer’s favorite.

As a sideline, MP3 books are the new kids on the block. They offer even more flexibility and convenience. Above all formats, MP3 books cut out the fancy packaging, the mail carrier or extra shopping trips. How would an instant download at home suit your busy schedule?
Overall, their superior storage, unnoticeable portability and better price make them superior above other formats so far.

But what’s with recorded books on tape being superior to books on CD?

1.
Most audio books on CD are incapable of holding more than 75 minutes of content. On the other hand, books on tape cram 90 plus minutes of voice-over.

Sure, you can have the complete audio book copied out over several CDs. But who wants to haul around a heavyweight case with CDs, right?

So, a few tape cassettes will do you for a particular audio book. In contrast, you will need many more CDs for that same audio book.

2.
Would you spend extra money for audio books on CD when you can get the same book on tape (or in MP3 format) for less?

Here’s a quick example to explain:

An unabridged version of “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” slims down to nest in 12 audiotapes. It sells for a mere $31.96 on the Barnes & Noble. Ready for the CD numbers now? The same version there, on CDs, costs roughly double the amount – $55.96. And you’ll have 5 more items to handle ‘cause there are 17 sets of CDs.

Now, you are thinking … “What a rip off!”
Whoa!

It’s far from being fleeced. CDs simply cost much more time and money to produce. Because of the extra outlays, the price tag is higher than the one for the tapes.

3.
This one’s clear. When you turn off your CD player while listening to an audio book, often, you won’t be able to carry on from the exact spot you left off. With a tape, you can continue from the exact track location you left off.

Imagine how annoying this can be if you are driving and you turn off your car. You’d need to kick-start the audio book CD and patiently locate the spot where you stopped at.

If you have a more advanced CD player that saves your location when you turn off your car, then it’s no problem until …
You shut off the car and pull out the CD.
Oops.

If you do the same with an audiocassette, the spot where you left off is waiting for you when you push the tape back into the player.

4.
You may or may not agree with me here. Audio books, after all, are narrations. Many recorded books enthusiasts are smart. They say …”Why would I spend the extra cash to buy CDs because of recording quality level when I can snatch near enough the same quality on audiotapes for much less?”

It boils down to the reality that a human voice recording has little to gain in depth and clarity when recorded on a CD as an alternative of a tape cassette.

Recorded books are here to stay. You, too, may prefer books on tape over books on CD. The tape benefits clearly outweigh the ones of CDs. Have they surprised you at all?

And, when you are ready to discover the most convenient technology in recorded books and audio books in general, look for MP3 books. With the arrival of MP3 players and MP3-enabled cellular phones, you can be in good company of audio books of your choice wherever you go.

Lou Smith invites you to check out Audio Books in many attractive and popular categories of Recorded Books. As our guest, you can download free MP3 Books right now.

Choosing A Home Theatre Design – So Many Choices

Published by Orlando Designer under Audio & Video

Choosing a home theatre design can be difficult. While the idea of having their own home theatre often brings a smile to a man’s face, figuring out how to turn that vague notion into a clear mental picture that can be acted upon is an entirely different matter. What makes things more difficult is that a perfect home theatre system for one house may not work well for another because of the design of the room, the acoustics of the area, the way the sound comes through the speakers, etc.

For some individuals the task becomes so daunting that they choose to hire professionals. It is possible to put together a great home theatre design, but there are a few things to consider in the planning process.

One thing right off the bat is to decide whether or not to use a professional. There is nothing wrong with using a professional, in fact this industry has been booming because these individuals are trained to design a home theatre so that the sound and quality is the most efficient. One prime example of how expertise can help is how the speakers are set up.

Most individuals who set up their system have the speakers integrated near the television, as opposed to actually setting the speakers around the room to play surround sound. Many individuals think they have a nice set up, and then jump half way to the ceiling when they hear surround sound for the first time and that creak behind the character sounds like it’s coming from right over your shoulder behind you!

For others the problem with designing a home theatre starts in the beginning during the planning process. One of the most important details that can not be overlooked for a perfect home theatre is making sure to choose the perfect room for it. Maybe you have a furnished basement that works perfectly, or maybe it’s too cramped. The living room sounds like a good idea, but how often is a living room designed well for a home theatre?

The room design for your home theater is much more important than many people might think. Looking good is important, but it’s not nearly as important as having a system that is tuned in perfectly to blow away company with its awesome sound once the DVDs start playing.

The placement of furniture in the room is important as well. The location of the speakers, television, and even the furniture all add to the home theater experience. Where the speakers should be set up is partially determined by what type of chairs or couches you have, and where they are located in the room, as well. Sure you want comfortable furniture, who doesn’t? But make sure they are comfortable and the right size to situate around the room, or else the home theatre you choose will not have its full effect. Designing a home theatre system can be difficult, but if you mind the details and do your homework, the experience will make all the hassles worth the reward.

Getting Great Sound From Your Home Theater

Published by Orlando Designer under Audio & Video

One of the most important pieces of a home theater is the sound system. A good sound system can greatly enhance your movie watching experience and a good home sound system can replicate the movie-theater sound effects on a smaller scale.

When installing a sound system in your home theater, you need to think about the size and shape of the room as well as where the viewers will be seated. Placing the speakers – especially the center speaker, in the optimum position for every seat in the house will ensure a good movie experience for everyone!

Here’s some things to think about when choosing and installing the sound system for your home theater:

1. A good home theater should have at least five speakers. You should have three in the front positioned at the right of the viewers, the left and the center. There are two surrounds also which are generally in the back on either side. If you really want super duper realistic sounds, you can add more but five will do the trick on a budget.

2. The center speaker is the key speaker and the best location for it is either on top of the television itself, in the center, or just below it. Some televisions will allow for placement behind the screen as well, as is the case with some projection set ups.

3. When placing your center speaker, remember that the tweeter is in an optimum position when it is at ear level for the viewers. If the speaker is mounted on top or below the screen, line up the front with the television’s front for best sound quality and aim the speaker at the seating area. Try to keep the center speaker an equal distance from the listening position as the left and right speakers.

4. Set a realistic budget for your sound system before you go out shopping. Remember, a really top notch system can cost a lot so be sure to set an honest yet reasonable amount for the purchase limit and remember good is often more than sufficient.

5. Don’t just buy the first system you come across. Sure, you want to have your new sound system installed today, but it can pay to shop around. Compare the available options within your budget. Read reviews from consumer groups and even past customers. Find out which sound systems offer great clarity and hold up well, too.

6. Once you’ve listened to a few different systems within your price range, pick the system that is right for you. This means the one you like that is in your price range. Then make sure it’s installed correctly. Make sure speaker placement is right for sound optimization. Surround sound doesn’t work so well if the speakers are all lined up in a row without rhyme or reason.

7. You can have the system installed by a professional or do it yourself, but either way you need to think about safety and take care to hide wires for the speakers under carpets or run them professionally through the walls. There’s nothing worse than tripping on a speaker wire and yanking it out to mess up the system, not to mention that exposed wires don’t look that great. If you hate dealing with wires – consider going with wireless speakers.

Creating a great sound system for your home theater doesn’t have to be a huge and costly venture either. But it is an investment that makes all the difference in the world.

What You Need To Know About The Best Portable MP3 Players

Published by Orlando Designer under Audio & Video

Portable mp3 players are taking the music world by storm. They offer convenience, portability, and ease of use, all in a small, feature rich package. There’s not much to not like about them. But mp3 player models are constantly changing. Therefore it’s a good idea to know what features are most important when you are trying to choose a portable mp3 player for your own use. Here are some tips to consider:

* Consider how you plan to use your mp3 player before buying it. Will you be using it on very long trips where you have no access to your computer song collection? If so, you may want to opt for a portable mp3 player that uses a hard drive to store songs as they can hold thousands of songs at a time and you can go for a long time without hearing the same song twice. In many cases you may be able to have your entire song collection on your mp3 player that way. However, most people will probably be using their portable mp3 player just for a few hours at a time on shorter trips. In that case a flash memory player should work just fine. They can usually handle 50- 75 songs at a time and that may be all you need.

* The best portable mp3 players also allow you to be able to upgrade the operating system of the unit whenever needed. This can be very important as the mp3 player equipment is changing constantly because it’s still a relatively new technology. So you want to be able to keep up as advancements are made, and newer file formats or compressions are introduced. Otherwise you could wind up with an obsolete player very quickly.

* Before you buy any portable mp3 player be sure that you personally physically inspect it. This is especially critical for smaller players as they can be so small and compact that some folks with larger hands have a difficult time operating the controls. You also want to be sure that the display will meet your needs too, as some players display more information at a time than others do, and some are more readable even in low light situations than others.

* The best portable mp3 players conserve power well too. This can be an important issue as you will most likely not have a permanent power source when you are on the go, so your battery is all you have to power the unit. Some players can go for days on a set of batteries and others can only go a few hours. So make sure that the player you choose will fit the way you intend to use it. Also be aware that some players use a battery that is rechargeable but also can’t be removed, and so must be sent back to the factory for an expensive battery replacement. The best portable mp3 players use batteries that are easy to find and change, such as AA or AAA batteries.

Since mp3 players are still fairly new to the marketplace, many people are not as familiar with them as other pieces of electronic equipment like CD players. So it’s good to understand what features are important in the best rated mp3 players in order to make the best choice. Hopefully, the tips above can help you make the best choice.

The Top Two Choices From Online Stereo Receiver Reviews

Published by Orlando Designer under Audio & Video

When considering any electronics purchase there is usually more than enough brands and models to choose from and it can even start to get confusing for the average person who is not an electronics equipment whiz. Fortunately, the internet is a vast storehouse of independent consumer ratings and if you do some homework you can usually spot the top products very quickly.

When looking for stereo receivers these days there are a few features that come to mind that should be included on the latest models to really give you the most for your money as the digital entertainment age comes into it’s own. One is that unlike receivers of the past, today’s stereo receivers need to incorporate video into the mix as well as audio capability. For years a home receiver was used mainly for the home audio system, but now a typical home entertainment setup requires a receiver to process video signals as well.

A modern receiver would also be able to decode and process both Dolby and DTS 5.1 surround sound and support the 5 speakers and subwoofer that is required for creating a true surround sound experience. The receiver should have plenty of inputs for the audio/video devices that will be used with it and a variety of connections for those devices to insure the best audio and video quality.

With all of that in mind, we have found that two digital receivers have the features and positive reviews that we like to see to be able to meet the needs of most people. And here they are:

1. The Yamaha RX-V650 is a great receiver that produces clean, crisp sound and can actually function well with either 4 ohm or 8 ohm speakers, which can be important if you aren’t sure what your speaker setups’s ohm rating is. It also develops plenty of power, being rated at close to 100 watts per channel. That amount of power will fill even the largest rooms with sound. The rear video inputs are: Composite: 4, Component: 2, S-Video: 4, and the video outputs are Component: 1, Composite: 2, S-Video: 2. There are 4 rear audio inputs and two outputs. This receiver will also support on up to Dolby 7.1 surround sound. It costs just under $400 online and is a great piece of equipment for most home theater needs.

2. The Panasonic SA-XR50 – This is a less expensive digital receiver that still delivers great value and performance by all accounts. It supports up to 6.1 surround sound and puts out 100 watts per channel of power making it an easy choice to power speakers effectively even in large rooms. The audio inputs are: 4 A/V, 1 coaxial, 1 optical; and the video inputs are 3 composite, 3 S-video, 2 component. This receiver often sells for under $300 online making it a great bargain.

Either receiver mentioned above would no doubt make a fine purchase for either your home stereo or home theater needs as both are highly rated in most online stereo receiver reviews. There are also other fine receivers available though, and it’s always good to make a thorough search to find the one that fits you best.
