Feng Shui is an ancient practice among the Chinese but has been widely used in the Western World for a long time now. It basically works by balancing the flow of chi in one’s home. In short, when applied properly, it brings good fortune. One of the most common items used in Feng Shui is the mirror. By knowing exactly where to position it according to the principles of Feng Shui, you can bring good luck in your home or office.

When placing mirrors in the foyer, avoid placing them opposite the front door as it can prevent positive energy from entering your home. Instead, place it on either side of the door. Choose those that are rectangular in shape if you are looking for balance. For unity, choose circular ones instead. And for power, go for the Bagua mirror, which has eight-sides.

Baguas are considered powerful and should only be placed outside the house. They are usually placed in areas across pointed edges. Angles and edges are considered poison arrows in Chinese tradition and can bring bad luck once it is pointed inside the house. Interestingly, Baguas are said to possess powers to counter the poison arrows.

The bathroom is the symbol for marriage, wealth, and fame. To prevent positive energy from flowing out of the bathroom, place a body-size mirror just outside the door. If you wish to put a mirror inside the bathroom, avoid placing separate mirrors. Use a whole mirror instead that will allow you to get a clear view of yourself and enhance positive energy as well.

They can bring positive energy when placed in the office as well. Hang one right above your working desk especially if your back is towards the front door so that you can see who’s coming in and going out of the room. This mirror placement will help boost up your wealth.

One important thing you should remember is to never place them face to face with each other as this can result to poor chi flow. Whether you’re a practitioner of Feng Shui or not, the proper placement of mirrors inside the home or the office is still important as it can determine how your interior design would look like.

Do you know that Feng Shui is not a religious practice. It is in fact a system of controlling and harnessing the energy flow in the environment so that this energy will affect you positively such that you live in a harmonious and healthier life.

When I first started learning about this Chinese system, I was confused and shall I say a bit skeptical. How come just by arranging the furniture it affects your mind? Is it a sort of Chinese astrology or maybe it has something to do with I Ching? Well it is totally different from these two.

Like Chinese astrology, to perform Feng Shui you need special tools and the standard ones would be the compass and the bagua. The bagua is a kind of map or chart that relates various areas of your life in the 8 divisions within your living space. Through this bagua chart including a compass you could figure out how to emphasize as well as energize the areas within your office or home that require immediate attention so that they can be enhanced by Feng Shui practice.

Typically for the ancient Chinese, Feng Shui appeared to be mystical. However modern science can explain the effects of this Chinese practice via quantum physics. Let me show you one of the main scientific discoveries with regards to Feng Shui:

It was shown that our mind can be altered from an attentive state (beta) to a meditative state (alpha) simply by entering a space (room) that has been applied Feng Shui to it. In simple term it means that your chaotic beta brain waves transform to meditative alpha waves when you enter a good Feng Shui room.

Skeptical about it? Your brain waves changes for the better just by walking into a room. Let’s see what’s happened.

Researchers hooked someone to a mobile EEG device. They then brought him into a room without any Feng Shui applied to it. They discovered that his brain waves were around beta state. Next Feng Shui was applied to the same room simply by rearranging the furniture. But this time whenever he was brought to the room his brain waves instantaneously changed to alpha state. They were surprised to discover the sudden switch to a trance-like alpha state while he was in this particular room. How could this be?

So what makes the person’s brain waves switch from one state to another? The quick answer is the energy flow. The positive energy flows within the room affects the person mind and his brain and this changes his brain wave frequencies.

This energy also known as chi would flow freely coming in from one window and departing over the other window and its flow will be only stopped by something that stands on its way. For that reason rearranging furniture in the correct way along with removing any clutter would certainly improve this flow.

You must always ensure that your room in your house where you spend most of your time has a good energy flow. Studies have demonstrated that one of several ways to get into the alpha state is to be in an area with good Feng Shui; because your brain will automatically produce a lot more alpha waves. Therefore if you are considering of meditating then ensure that your room meets this condition.
